Subterranean homesick blues
Well
since no one's going to talk about this here goes,I love rock and roll, the meaning
associated with it, what every one of those guys dreamt the world would be. No
I'm not saying flower power or free love is the answer to the world's problem
but the existing anarchy which has now become innate to the current society
isn't, in the sense earlier certain
anarchy wasn't tolerated and now it’s lessons from the past and today its cool
to do it, hip to be like that. The very same world that once banned some of
these thoughtful people from performing today mourns their loss. Is it what
they wanted, is it what they thought they
would be known for? Did Jimi hendrix think he would be known for his
guitar pyrotechnics and drug abuse when he died? Did he want to be known for
that? Enjoying good music is one thing thinking about it is another. What these
musicians truly represented was a lot of things but one common thread flows
throughout music history, the need for freedom from some sort of oppression
where is that free thinking spirit gone now? Why are things teen based? When
and why did the power music had on people wane, the music that made people
question governments, question what was
taken as the norm, made people crowd
auditoriums just to listen to their favorite band perform that one song!
Why did
music become so commercial. ratings driven, no passion or vision. I feel we are
to blame , the listeners are to blame for the loss of good music I mean how
could someone like Bob Dylan survive if he began his career post the
millennium, where people have been pampered, things are taken for granted more
easily and no one asks any more questions, we have all become YES! Men , we
don't want to stray from the used path, we just want to remain comfortable the
way we are. This is a society with no guts, I don't want you to go out there
and start holding placards and march onwards towards your version of a better society, Who am I to
tell you what to do, after all I am also another individual whose back has been
broken by society's burdens of false responsibilities and other farces. All I
want is for my fans is to listen said Ray Manzarek once and all I want you do
is the same, read this and respect some of the people whose words and music
have shaped your society the way it is, the above claim may be outrageous but
trust me even now I hear the blues all around me, you've always got the blues,
come rain or shine brother you've always got the blues
